WRITING THE CITY is a groundbreaking online writing project, which took place in Singapore from 2010 to 2012.

Conceived by Dan as a series of filmed conversations between Singaporean novelist Christine Suchen Lim and screenwriter and creative writing tutor Jeremy Sheldon, WRITING THE CITY provided insights into the writing process and advice for new writers, while also providing an online space for writers to share new work created as a response to a writing cues from Suchen and Jeremy.

Commissioned by the National Arts Council of Singapore and British Council, WRITING THE CITY resulted in hundreds of new works from Singaporean writers, exploring ideas of place, character, memory, belief and history, all of which featured on dedicated website.
